Townhouse moves in Lane Cove

The townhouse is Lane Cove's in-between home: bigger than the unit you are leaving, tighter than the house you might buy next. Moving one well is a craft of its own.

The carry in a townhouse complex often starts where the truck stops: at the visitor parking, not the front door.

What makes a townhouse move different

A townhouse hides the hard parts of both other moves. Like a unit, it usually sits inside a complex: a shared driveway, visitor parking that fills, a body corporate with feelings about trucks. Like a house, it has its own front door, its own garage and almost always a flight or two of internal stairs that the sofa has to turn on.

So it gets planned like both. Before the day, our partner removalist asks:

  • Where does the truck actually sit? Some complexes take a truck to the door; in others the honest plan is the street and a longer carry. Knowing which before the day is the difference between a smooth morning and an argument with a driveway.
  • Who needs to know? A heads-up to the complex manager or the neighbours sharing the driveway costs nothing and buys goodwill for the hours the truck is there.
  • What has to turn on the stairs? The crew measures the awkward pieces against the tightest turn, not the widest hallway, and wraps for plaster corners in the stairwell.

What is included

  • 3 movers and a truck at the published $350 an hour for a 2-3 bedroom townhouse (2 movers at $250 an hour honestly covers a small one)
  • Wrap, blankets, dollies and floor protection on the truck as standard
  • Disassembly and reassembly of beds and the usual flat-pack suspects as part of the hourly work
  • A plan for both doors before the day, drawn from your enquiry

Common questions

Our complex has a shared driveway. Is that a problem?

No, but it is a plan. Our partner removalist works out in advance whether the truck fits down it, whether it can wait there, and what the neighbours need to know. Where the driveway will not take the truck, the removalist quotes the carry honestly instead of discovering it on the day.

Do internal stairs cost extra?

There is no stairs surcharge. Stairs take time, and the job is hourly, so what they really cost is minutes; our partner removalist tells you honestly how many to expect once they see the details of the move.

Can you move us out of a unit and into a townhouse on the same day?

That is a common townhouse move, and yes. The Two Doors planner is built for exactly that pairing: it reads both ends and gives each its own preparation list.

Five minutes of form beats a week of phone tag. Two addresses, the size of the place, the access story at each end: from that our partner removalist sizes the crew, names the hourly rate and rings you back with the day already sketched.
