House moves in the valley
Lane Cove's houses live on sloping ground: streets that drop toward the river, driveways that dive below the kerb, and lanes on the peninsula that were never drawn with a truck in mind. House moves here are planned the way the ground asks.
How a valley house move is planned
- The slope story first. Can the truck get down the drive, or does the carry run up to the street? A steep carry is not a problem, it is a plan: the right number of hands, the route cleared of pots and hoses, and the truck parked where the load path is shortest.
- The right truck for the lane. On the narrow streets toward the water, the honest answer is sometimes a smaller truck parked well rather than a bigger one parked badly. Two trips beat one blocked lane.
- The big pieces get their own plan. Pianos, stone tables, pot plants the size of furniture: name them in the enquiry and they are planned, not improvised.
What is included
- 3 movers and a truck at the published $350 an hour for two and three bedroom homes
- 4 movers across 2 trucks at the $500 hourly rate for the biggest homes and offices, working one run sheet so the day ends when it should
- Wrap, blankets, dollies and floor protection as standard; beds and the usual flat-packs handled as part of the hourly work
- A plan for both doors before the day, drawn from your enquiry
Common questions
Our driveway is genuinely steep. Will the truck get down it?
Sometimes, and our partner removalist would rather know before trying. Tell us the slope story in the enquiry, or run it through the Two Doors planner; where the drive will not take the truck, the removalist plans the carry to the street and crews for it honestly.
Do you move houses out of the area?
Yes. The valley is home turf, but house moves can run to Chatswood, the upper North Shore, over the bridge and beyond. The partner removalist's rate does not change with the postcode; only the hours do.
When do we need the bigger crew?
Four bedrooms and up, or any move where the access at both ends is slow, is where 4 movers and two trucks earn their rate: the day ends in daylight. Our partner removalist recommends a crew honestly from what you tell us and never upsells past the move you have.
The next step
Tell us about both doors
Five minutes of form beats a week of phone tag. Two addresses, the size of the place, the access story at each end: from that our partner removalist sizes the crew, names the hourly rate and rings you back with the day already sketched.
